Every May the event
transforms the most beautiful buildings, parks and squares in Sofia into a huge and shining
open air art gallery. Artists from all around the world will tell stories, provoke the imagination,
and surprise the audience through their magnificent 3D projection mapping and light
installations.
In the last three years, LUNAR presented light art by over 60 artists from 17 countries. In 2024
the festival was visited by more than 600 000 people, which makes it the largest art event in
Bulgaria.

LUNAR festival aims to provide a platform for the creation and presentation of light artworks
and thus, increases the opportunities for the presentation of artists from this field in Bulgaria.
The festival unites different stakeholders (institutions, companies, artists, experts, media) and
plays important role in development of audience interest in the visual and digital arts, renewing
the interest in cultural and architectural heritage and supporting the tourism.
