Light Festival “Staro Rīga”/”Beaming Riga” offers an international programe of light and multimedia installations. Buildings, squares, bridges and monuments turn into unique pieces of light art, supplemented by musical and theatrical elements, open for interaction with audience.
“Staro Riga” programe include diverse forms of light art – video projections, free-standing landscape installations and interactive light objects which festival audiences can build and develop, using a variety of technologies and the virtual environment.
The first ”Staro Rīga” festival took place in 2008, celebrating Latvia’s 90th anniversary. The tradition continues as each year streets, buildings and parks of capital city of Latvia are decorated with light on Latvia’s birthday. “Staro Riga” dates always include November 18 – Proclamation Day of the Republic of Latvia.
